The 2006/2007 season of Sparta Rotterdam was the 52nd year in Dutch professional football for the club from Rotterdam. The club played in the Eredivisie and took part in the KNVB Cup tournament.
The 2006-2007 season started disastrously. Sparta took only one point from the first nine games. After this, a strong period started: eight of the next twelve matches were won, including a victory over Ajax (3-0). After the winter break, the results were less. Second-year trainer-coach Wiljan Vloet criticized the efforts of his team, which he described as a "squeezed lemon".
Still, the team gathered enough points to no longer have to fear relegation from the 33rd round of the competition. The season ended with a 13th place. In the cup tournament, the club lost to RKC Waalwijk in the eighth finals, albeit only after extra time: 2-3. Top scorers of the season were Sjaak Polak and Haris Medunjanin, both with seven goals.
In the play-offs to participate in the Intertoto Cup, Sparta lost over two matches to NEC Nijmegen. At the 1-1 in Rotterdam, a 2-1 victory followed on May 13, 2007 in Nijmegen for the team of trainer Mario Been. Sparta opened the score halfway through with a header from Danny Schenkel from a corner. NEC came alongside in the 36th minute by Peter Wisgerhof, after which Patrick Pothuizen in the 60th minute determined the final score at 2-1 with a good header from a corner.
