SK Slavia Prague is a Czech football club from the capital Prague and is the oldest football club in the country.
The club was founded in 1892 with the name Akademický cyklistický odbor Slavia (ACOS) and has been the leading club in the country from the start, together with Sparta Prague. Until the Second World War, the league titles were almost exclusively distributed among Sparta and Slavia. After the war Slavia was still a top club, but a league title was no longer possible until 1996. In the 1960s, the club also spent several years in the second division.
After the split of Czechoslovakia in 1993, things got better for the club, the former all-powerful Dukla Prague went under and Slavia was able to take the title in 1996.
Since May 2008, Slavia has been playing its home matches in the new stadium, the Fortuna arena, which can accommodate 20,800 spectators.
