Koninklijke Lierse Sportkring, or Lierse for short, was a Belgian football club from Lier. The club was founded on March 6, 1906, was affiliated with the KBVB with base number 30 and had yellow-black as club colors. The club's palmares includes four league titles and two Belgian Cups.
Lierse mainly relied on its renowned youth policy. For example, Bernard Voorhoof, Jules Van Craen, Alfons Dresen, Fons Van Brandt, Jan Ceulemans, Jurgen Cavens, David Brocken, Bob Peeters, Carl Hoefkens and Stein Huysegems came from the Lierse youth organization.
Lierse played its home games at the Herman Vanderpoorten stadium, named after the former mayor of Lier. Popularly, the stadium is better known as' t Lisp, after the district where the stadium is located. On May 9, 2018, the club filed for bankruptcy.
Julien Vercauteren(January 12, 1993) is a Belgian football player. He plays as a winger at KVC Westerlo, to which he is loaned out by OGC Nice, before which he played for Lierse SK.
He received his youth training at Lierse SK, here he would also make his debut in the first team in the away match against Standard Liège in the 2012/2013 season. He would play 8 games in that season and score 1 goal in the game won against KV Kortrijk. In his second season he played 18 games and scored 1 goal, which he made in the won match against RAEC Mons. He also scored in the cup match against second division team Lommel United.
