Sestao River Club is a Spanish football club. Home stadium is the Las Llanas in Sestao in the Autonomous Region of the Basque Country. The team has played in the Segunda División B again since 2011-2012, but after a nineteenth place during the 2016-2017 season, the team will play again in the Tercera División from the 2017-2018 season.
Sestao River Club was founded in 1996 as a successor to Sestao Sport Club, which has always been nicknamed River. This club existed for more than 80 years and was eventually declared bankrupt.
Sestao River Club begins its history in the lower divisions in the Basque Country before entering the Tercera División in 1999. It competes every year for a place in the play-offs and in 2004 for the first time promotion to the Segunda División B via a championship. The performance there lasts only a year, but a year after the relegation, the club immediately manages to promote again and plays the following four seasons at the third level of Spanish football. The 2009-2010 season became the only season at the Tercera División level where it finished third, qualified for the play-off and finished with promotion. the team has been playing in the Segunda División B since 2011-2012, but after a nineteenth place during the 2016-2017 season, the team will play again in the Tercera División from the 2017-2018 season.
