The Netherlands was one of the participating countries in the European Football Championship 2012 in Poland and Ukraine. It was the ninth participation for the country. At the previous European Championships in Switzerland and Austria (in 2008), the Netherlands was eliminated by Russia in the quarterfinals. The national coach was Bert van Marwijk. On June 6, 2012, the Netherlands was in fourth place on the FIFA world ranking, behind Germany.
