Eskişehirspor is a Turkish football club from Eskişehir, currently playing in the third tier in the country and trained by Cem Karaca. The club plays its home games at the Yeni Eskişehir Stadium, which opened on November 20, 2016. The colors of the club are red and black.
The club was founded on June 19, 1965 through a merger of Akademi Gençlik, İdmanyurdu and Yıldıztepe. They are nicknamed The Star of Anatolia. The club was especially successful in the early years, 3 times the club became vice champion (1969, 1970 and 1972). Fethi Heper, later finance professor, became the league's top scorer with 13 goals in the 1969-70 season.
The club has never become champion so far, but has won the Turkish Cup once. The club also won the Turkish Super Cup once. This was won in 1971 against Galatasaray SK. Galatasaray lost this match 2-3. They also have a great European experience in the Balkan Cup. The club reached the final in 1975 but lost with scores of 1-2 and 0-1 against FK Radnički Niš.
In the 1970s, Eskisehirspor supporters and the name Amigo (mascot) Orhan are mentioned in the same breath. Eskisehir was determined to end the rule of the Istanbul clubs. Eskisehir was transforming and was the pride of Anatolia. With this, the club nicknamed "Es-Es" has by far the most supporters as a club from Central Anatolia.
