In the 2003-2004 season, Portsmouth finished 13th in the Premier League in their debut season in the competition, managed by Harry Redknapp. Their successful campaign saw them secure their top-flight status, finishing ahead of several more established sides.
Portsmouth's first season in the Premier League after a 15-year absence was a strong one. After a great start that briefly put them top of the league after three games, the team slumped into the relegation zone mid-season due to injuries. However, they rallied and lost only one of their last ten matches to comfortably secure a mid-table finish.
A notable highlight was that Portsmouth was one of only two teams to remain unbeaten against Arsenal's "Invincibles" in the league that season, achieving two draws against the eventual champions.
