Euro 1976 Quarter-Finals: Managed by Mike Smith, Wales won their qualifying group but were eliminated by Yugoslavia in a fiery, two-legged quarter-final tie (the final tournament only included 4 teams at the time). 1978 World Cup Qualification: Wales narrowly missed out on qualifying for the World Cup in Argentina, following a highly controversial "home" match against Scotland that had to be played at Anfield. Record Victory (1978): Wales secured one of their largest wins ever, defeating Malta 7–0, featuring four goals from debutant Ian Edwards.
