In the 2004-2005 season, Heracles Almelo did not use fixed shirt numbers, which was common practice in the Eerste Divisie at the time. Players typically wore numbers 1 through 11, depending on their position in the starting lineup for each match.
This unique shirt has been worn and signed by all the first-team players.
In the 2004-2005 season, Heracles Almelo became champions of the Eerste Divisie (then called the Gouden Gids Divisie) and thus gained promotion to the Eredivisie for the first time in 28 years. Under the guidance of manager Peter Bosz, the team secured the title on the final matchday with a 2-2 draw against BV Veendam on May 20, 2005, finishing just one point ahead of rivals Sparta Rotterdam.
