AC Milan's 1999/00 season marked the official centenary (100 years) of the club, which was founded on December 13, 1899. Although the club began the year as reigning champions, they finished this anniversary year without major trophies. To celebrate the centenary, AC Milan and Adidas released an iconic commemorative shirt. Design: The shirt featured very thin red and black stripes, a direct reference to the very first kit from 1899, worn by founder Herbert Kilpin. Logo: Instead of the modern club crest, the Cross of St. George (the coat of arms of the city of Milan) was used, with a gold star above it, representing the ten league titles won. Usage: The kit was worn only in select matches, including Champions League matches and league matches during the anniversary month of December.
