In the 2015/16 season, AFC Ajax suffered a dramatic denouement in the league, losing the league title to PSV on the very last matchday. Ajax entered the final round as league leaders with a better goal difference than PSV. A victory over already-relegated De Graafschap would have sufficed for the championship.
