In the 2019-2020 season, Royal Charleroi Sporting Club finished in 3rd place in the Belgian First Division A (Jupiler Pro League) and reached the quarter-finals of the Belgian Cup. The league season was ended prematurely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Under head coach Karim Belhocine, Charleroi had a successful season, securing a strong league position that led to a place in the next season's UEFA Europa League qualifiers.
