The 2009-2010 season for FC Sochaux-Montbéliard, the club's 62nd season in Ligue 1, saw its schedule disrupted by many postponed matches. It was marked by the serious car accident of the American international Charlie Davies in October. To compensate for this absence, the Nigerian striker Brown Ideye is recruited for the record sum of 4 million euros in January. Despite this reinforcement, the second part of the disastrous season (3V, 7N, 11D) without threatening the maintenance of the club in Ligue 1. The only reasons for satisfaction of the season are the cups with a quarter-final of the Coupe de France and a Gambardella Cup final for the U19 team.
