During the 2015–16 season, AFC Ajax finished 2nd in the Eredivisie under manager Frank de Boer, narrowly missing out on the league title on the final matchday. The 2015–16 AFC Ajax season saw the club participate in the Eredivisie, the KNVB Cup, the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League. The first training took place on 6 July 2015 while the traditional AFC Ajax Open Day was held on 20 July.
