Racing Mechelen is a Belgian football club from Mechelen-North. The club was founded in 1904 and is affiliated with the Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) under registration number 24. The club experienced its most successful period under the leadership of striker Rik De Saedeleer in the 1950s. Racing Mechelen plays at the Oscar Vankesbeeck Stadium and, with the exception of two seasons, has always played in the national leagues.
In the 2003/2004 season, Racing was briefly reunited with city rivals YR KV Mechelen after 13 years. The derbies between the two Mechelen clubs attracted large crowds, even in the third division (around 10,000 spectators each). On February 1, 2004, Racing actually won again at KV Mechelen, thanks to a header from Kris Slachmuylders.
