NAC (Noad Advendo Combination) Breda is a Dutch football club from Breda that was founded on September 19, 1912. The club plays in the First Division in the 2019/20 season. The club plays in the Rat Verlegh Stadium (19,000 places).
On August 11, 1996, NAC opened a new stadium. The Fujifilm Stadium had cost 29 million guilders, but it did accommodate 16,400 spectators and better facilities than the previous stadium. In the following years, the name would change to MyCom Stadium (2003-2005) and from July the stadium will be named after the most legendary player in NAC history: the Rat Verlegh Stadium.
Despite the takeover of the new accommodation, the sporting performance went downhill. The absolute low point was reached in 1999 when the club immediately relegated to the first division. The following season, however, they fought hard and were immediately promoted again through the championship. Despite this performance, the financial situation continued to deteriorate with NAC. Finally, on January 30, 2003, the municipality of Breda decided to buy the stadium for around 15 million euros. NAC was thus saved from destruction. From that moment on, NAC rents the stadium of the municipality and the name of the club is changed from NAC to NAC Breda.
Shortly after this, the club went well again. The aforementioned fourth place in the league was achieved, which resulted in the double confrontation with Newcastle United. The team managed to surpass this performance in 2008 with a third place finish. In the playoffs that were played that season, Intertoto turned out to be the highest possible for NAC Breda.
