In the 1999–2000 season, Feyenoord finished third in the Eredivisie and reached the second group stage of the UEFA Champions League.

Feyenoord failed to retain their league title from the previous season. They finished third in the KPN Telecompetition (Eredivisie), behind national champions PSV and runners-up Ajax.
