In 1948, this team was promoted to the Eerste Divisie, the highest level of football at the time. The following year, they immediately won the championship, qualifying the club for the national championship. On June 4, 1949, SVV played the decisive match against SC Heerenveen, featuring Abe Lenstra, at De Kuip stadium in front of 69,300 spectators, a crowd never equaled since. SVV won 3-1. The club also won the first Dutch Super Cup in 1949, beating cup winners Quick Nijmegen 2-0. The championship team consisted of Henk Opschoor, André Corveleijn, Frans Steenbergen, Joop van Meerwijk, Jan van Schijndel, Flip van Kan, Jan Schrumpf, Arij de Bruijn, Henk Könemann, Rinus Gosens, and Arie van Lith. These were SVV's only major successes.
Professional football was played there between 1955 and 1991. As an amateur club, it rejoined the KNVB (Royal Dutch Football Association) in 1988, where it restarted in the Fourth Division on Sundays. In 1997, it merged with first division club SMC (itself also formed in 1993 from a merger between Martinit and SFC) to form SVVSMC, a club that played in the Hoofdklasse for four seasons. Starting in the 2011/12 season, the club returned to playing as SVV, now in the Third Division.
