Kyrie Andrew Irving(born March 23, 1992 in Melbourne) is an Australian-born American basketball player who plays as a point guard for the Dallas Mavericks.

After playing college basketball for Duke, Irving entered the NBA Draft in 2011. On June 24, he was selected first by the Cleveland Cavaliers. In his first season in the NBA, Irving was named NBA Rookie of the Year. In the following season, he was selected for the NBA All-Star team for the first time. He was then elected Most Valuable Player of the NBA All-Star Game of that year on February 16, 2014.

After LeBron James returned to Cleveland in July 2014 and Kevin Love was also signed, Irving reached the NBA finals for the first time in his career with the Cavaliers in the 2014/15 season. He lost 4-2 to the Golden State Warriors with his team. He only participated in game 1. In this he dropped out in extra time with what later turned out to be a broken kneecap.
