Alexander Isak (Solna, 21 September 1999) is a Swedish footballer who usually plays as an attacker. He exchanged Borussia Dortmund for Real Sociedad in July 2019. Isak made his debut in the Swedish national football team in 2017.
Isak was born in Solna to Swedish and Eritrean parents. At the age of six he joined the youth academy of AIK Fotboll. Before that, he made his debut in the first team on February 28, 2016, during a game in the cup tournament against Tenhult. The attacker scored the sixth and last goal for AIK. On April 7, 2016, he made his debut in the Allsvenskan, against Östersunds FK. He immediately scored on his league debut. On September 21, 2016, Isak made two hits against Djurgårdens IF. In his first year, he eventually scored ten goals in 24 league games.
Isak signed a contract with Borussia Dortmund in January 2017 until mid-2022. He rarely played here in his first two years. The German club rented it out to Willem II for six months in January 2019. Before that, Isak scored three goals on Saturday March 30, 2019 in a 3–2 league game at home against Fortuna Sittard. All three from a penalty. He was the first player ever to make a hat-trick in the Eredivisie in this way. In his half year with Willem II, Isak scored thirteen goals in sixteen league matches and one in the KNVB cup. This did not convince Borussia Dortmund to keep him in service. The German club sold him after returning to Real Sociedad, which paid him approximately € 10,000,000. Isak made his league debut for Real Sociedad on August 17, 2019, in an away match against Valencia. Then he was brought in 1–0 behind for Adnan Januzaj in the 71st minute. The game ended in 1–1.
