UD Las Palmas is a Spanish football club from Las Palmas in Gran Canaria. The club plays in the Estadio de Gran Canaria.
UD Las Palmas was founded in 1949 and played a total of 31 seasons in the Primera División. In 2000, the club promoted from Segunda División A to Primera División as champions. After two seasons, UD Las Palmas relegated to the Segunda División B. In 2006 promotion to the Segunda A was achieved. On Sunday 21 June 2015, promotion to the Primera División was achieved after beating Real Zaragoza 2-0.
The team plays all official matches at the Estadio de Gran Canaria (Gran Canaria Stadium) from season 2003/2004. Located in the suburb of Las Palmas, it was inaugurated on May 8, 2003 with a match against RSC Anderlecht. It has a capacity of 32,665 spectators and possessed a running track. The running track disappeared in 2015 and was replaced by stands closer to the field. The former stadium was the Estadio Insular in Ciudad Jardín.
