Aykut Demir(Bergen op Zoom, 22 October 1988) is a Turkish-Dutch footballer who plays as a defender. He is a one-time Turkish international. On November 19, 2013, he played in a friendly against Belarus.
Demir started his football career at SV DOSKO from Bergen op Zoom. In 1998, the player made the switch to the youth academy of NAC Breda. After Demir had gone through various youth teams of NAC, NAC coach Ton Lokhoff added Demir to the first selection of NAC in December 2005. In this month he signed a 2.5-year contract with the Breda club, which binds him to NAC until July 1, 2008. About six months later, he extended his contract for another year.
He played at the Under-18 World Cup in Peru. Demir reached the semi-finals with the Turkish national football team.
Demir played his debut match for NAC Breda on Saturday 14 January 2006 against Roda JC. This match ended 4-0 in favor of Roda JC.
His good play at NAC Breda and the youth teams of Turkey ensured that several Turkish clubs tried to remove the player from NAC in the summer of 2006. Among them was the top club Beşiktaş JK. However, Demir decided it was wiser to mature at NAC for a few more years.
At the beginning of 2008, Demir was brought to Excelsior by his old trainer Lokhoff on a rental basis.
In 2009 he moved to his first club in Turkey, Gençlerbirliği SK. After having played more than a hundred games for this club, Demir left for Trabzonspor in 2013. In 2017 he went to play for second division Giresunspor. In 2019 he went to Buyuksehir Belediye Erzurumspor.
