The South Korea national football team is a team of football players that represents South Korea in international matches and competitions, such as the (qualifying) matches for the FIFA World Cup and the Asian Cup.
It has been one of Asia's most successful national teams, since their debut at the Olympic Games in 1948. After not surviving the first round during the first five appearances in a World Cup final round, the country reached the World Cup in 2002, as co-host country , under the Dutch coach Guus Hiddink the semi-finals. At the 2006 World Cup, South Korea, led by the Dutchman Dick Advocaat, was again killed in the first round.
