Gábor Babos(Sopron, Hungary, October 24, 1974) is a former Hungarian football goalkeeper who played for NAC Breda, N.E.C. and Feyenoord.
In the summer of 2000 he signed a contract with NAC, where he quickly became one of the better goalkeepers in the Eredivisie. When his contact with NAC ended in the summer of 2004, he signed with Feyenoord. He has been playing for N.E.C. since the summer of 2005, the first season of which was on a rental basis. As of the 2009-2010 season, the Hungarian is also captain of the club from Nijmegen. In the 2010/11 season, Babos played the entire competition through a back injury, but only played three games. When he recovered, Jasper Cillessen had taken his place under the bar. On August 27, 2011, he makes his comeback at NEC, after the transfer of Cillessen for 3.2 million to Ajax. NEC won the match 2-1 against Heracles. On January 22, 2012, Babos kept his five hundredth game. This Gelderland derby against Vitesse was won by NEC with 0-1. On March 21, 2013, it was announced that he would return to NAC Breda after 9 years. His contract there expired in the summer of 2015. After a transfer to RKSV Halsteren did not take place, Babos ended his career.
Babos was then active as a goalkeeper trainer in the youth academy of NAC. In addition, from mid-November 2015 he was head coach of amateur club RKSV BSC from Roosendaal (Sunday third division). On March 19, 2018, he resigned from both positions to become goalkeeper coach of the first team of N.E.C. as a temporary replacement for Wilfried Brookhuis who was struck by a brain haemorrhage. Also in the 2018/19 and 19/20 season, Babos acts as a goalkeeper trainer at N.E.C. In May 2020 he will transfer to NAC Breda.
