Lechia Gdańsk is a football club from the city of Gdańsk in Poland. The club plays in the Ekstraklasa, the highest football league in Poland. The club colors are white-green.
The club was founded in 1945, shortly after the Second World War. Before the war, the city was German-speaking and was known as the Free City of Danzig, which was simply the German city of Danzig until 1920. High-level football was also played here with Preußen Danzig, BuEV Danzig and Luftwaffen-SV Danzig, but all these clubs were disbanded after Danzig was annexed by Poland.
The club has been playing its home games since 2011 in the Polsat Plus Arena Gdańsk. With 43,615 seats, it is the largest stadium of all the clubs in the Ekstraklasa and the third largest stadium in Poland (after the National Stadium and the Śląski Stadium). Before the construction of the new stadium, Lechia Gdańsk played its home games at the Stadion Miejskiego Ośrodka Sportu i Rekreacji, usually simply referred to as the Lechia Gdańsk Stadium.
