Jordan Brian Henderson(Sunderland, June 17, 1990) is an English footballer who usually plays as a midfielder. He left Sunderland for Liverpool in July 2011. Henderson made his debut in the England national football team in 2010.
Henderson played for several England national youth squads. He made his debut for the England national football team on 17 November 2010 as a starting player in a match against France. After Frank Lampard dropped out, Henderson was included by the then English national coach Roy Hodgson in the final roster for the 2012 European Football Championship in Poland and Ukraine. There, the team was eliminated by Italy in the quarterfinals after penalties (2–4). In regular time and extra time, both teams got stuck at 0–0.
Henderson was also part of the 23-man squad of Roy Hodgson that took part in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in 2014. England was eliminated for the eighth finals after two games. On May 16, 2016, Henderson was included in the selection of England for the 2016 European Football Championship. England was eliminated by Iceland (1–2) in the eighth final after goals from Ragnar Sigurðsson and Kolbeinn Sigþórsson. Henderson was also part of the England squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, announced by national coach Gareth Southgate on May 16.
