Gaelic football is a team sport and ball game with characteristics of both football and rugby. It is mainly played in Ireland. Although the game has been around for centuries, the rules were established by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) in the late 1800s. There are different competitions for men and women and there is also a European championship that took place in 2012 in Maastricht (Netherlands).
