The Cape Verde national football team is a team of football players that represents Cape Verde in international matches and competitions, such as (qualifying) matches for the World Cup and the battle for the Africa Cup.
The Federação Caboverdiana de Futebol was founded in 1982 and is affiliated to the CAF and FIFA (since 1986). In February 2014, the Cape Verde national football team reached the highest position in the FIFA world ranking with 27th place, in April 2000 the lowest position was reached with 182nd place.
On November 20, 2002, the African country played its first match against a non-African team, namely Luxembourg. The game ended in a goalless draw.
