Cádiz Club de Fútbol is a Spanish football club from the city of Cádiz. The home stadium is the Estadio Ramón de Carranza. From the 2020/21 season, Cádiz CF will play in the Primera División.
Cádiz was founded in 1910 and made its debut in the Segunda División A in the season before the Spanish Civil War (1935/36) broke out in the Segunda División A. In 1939 the club played again in this division at the restart. In 1943, Cádiz was relegated to the Tercera División and only returned more than 10 years later to the Segunda División A. For more than 20 years, the club played at this level (except for one season in the Tercera División) before being promoted to the Primera División in 1977, 1981 and 1983. Then three times also relegation followed. From the 1985/86 to 1992/93 season, the club played eight years in a row in the Primera División, always fighting against relegation. After being relegated from the top division in 1993, the club even descended the following year after Segunda División B, where it then stayed for nine years. In 2003 the club returns to Segunda División A and two years later it is promoted again to the highest Spanish football division. Even now, the performance will not last longer than a year. In 2008 Cádiz CF relegated again, this time to Segunda B. In 2009 the club became champion of the regional group 4 of Segunda B and promoted via the play-offs to Segunda División A. In 2010 Cádiz CF relegated to Segunda again B. In 2016 the club will return to the second level. In 2020, the club was promoted back to the Primera División.
The highest position ever achieved is a 12th place in the Primera División. Including the 2020-21 season, the club has spent 54 years in professional football, 13 years in Primera División and 41 years in the second tier of Spanish football.
