Kees Luijckx(Beverwijk, 11 February 1986) is a Dutch professional footballer who usually plays in defense. Luijckx has been clubless since July 1, 2021, after his expiring contract with Roda JC Kerkrade was not extended.
Luijckx played in his youth for Vitesse '22 in Castricum, where his father was a trainer. When he was ten, in the D'tjes of the amateur club, he was scouted by AZ, after which he ended up in the youth academy of the Alkmaarders. In the summer of 2005 he received the message that he was allowed to train with the first selection. That season, however, the transition to the main squad turned out to be too big, and Luyckx was unable to make his appearance yet. The following season he was again in the first selection, but again he didn't get a chance to play. For that reason, he was loaned to Excelsior during the winter break of 2006-2007. On Sunday, January 21, he made his debut in professional football against Sparta Rotterdam.
In the 2008/2009 season, Luijckx had a difficult start at AZ. Luijckx even tried to leave AZ during the winter break, but due to injuries to Niklas Moisander and Héctor Moreno, he suddenly became a basic player under Louis van Gaal. He just had to play in a different place than usual, namely in the central defence.
